Boone, North Carolina – Perfect Year Round Vacation Spot

Are you looking for somewhere new and different to travel?  How about a trip to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina? Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall you will be able to find activities year round for your family to enjoy.

Blue Ridge Mountians

In the Spring, Summer, or Fall take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway where you will enjoy breath taking views, miles of well marked hiking trails, picnic spots and a relaxing drive.  Driving the parkway is free of charge, and if the need arises you can find campsites where you can pay along the way.  You can drive the parkway in the winter as well, but beware in icy conditions the parkway does close to keep drivers safe.

During the winter time enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing and sledding.  Great local skiing and snowboarding spots include Appalachian Ski Mountain, Ski Beech, and Sugar Mountain Resort. Or, take a trip to the Hawksnest Resort where you can find some of the best snow tubing in the area.

If you live nearby join many other families that have the tradition of traveling to Boone to cut their Christmas tree.  Christmas tree farms are in abundance in the Boone area and you will not be disappointed to enjoy lovely shopping and dinning while you choose and cut the perfect family tree.

During the Spring and Summer you will find lovely attractions like Grandfather Mountian, area waterfalls, Wildcat Lake and the Linville Caverns.    Plus, if you love the outdoors there are many places to rent canoes, kayaks, and tubes from so that you can enjoy floating down one of the High Country Rivers.  There are also many area locals who offer lessons on fly fishing, guide hiking trips, and rent bicycles so that you can enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Other year round enjoyable activities can include a trip down the Boone Area Wine Trail (a personal favorite of mine), a relaxing trip to a local day spa, or shopping in specialty shops downtown or at the outlet mall in Blowing Rock.

And, don’t forget that if you have small children there is lots to do like Tweetsie Railroad, a float down the river, or the Children’s Playhouse.  You can also check The High Country Mom Squad for a list of current festivals and activities.

There are also lots of fabulous local restaurants to choose from of all price ranges that will help you enjoy your time in the High Country as well.  Don’t miss out!  Book your trip to Boone by clicking the Book Travel tab above!
